“Peer Pressure in Contentious Mobilization” by Irina V. Soboleva, PhD Candidate in Comparative Politics and Social Psychology, Columbia University. The dissertation proposal explores the differential role of peer and social pressure in anti- and pro-incumbent contentious mobilization.

“Laws in Conflict: Legacies of War and Legal Pluralism in Chechnya” by Egor Lazarev, PhD Candidate, Political Science, Columbia University. This paper investigates how two Russo-Chechen Wars (1994-1996 and 1999-2003) shaped government and individual behavior and attitudes towards the alternative legal orders, namely state law, customary law, and Sharia, in post-war Chechnya.
