Jordan Center co-hosts roundtable discussion with Russian journalists, bloggers

On March 10th, 2017 the NYU Jordan Center and the NYU Department of Public Affairs hosted a roundtable luncheon for 11 journalists and bloggers from Russia who were in the U.S. on a reporting tour organized by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Press Center. Experts from NYU in attendance included Joshua Tucker, Director of the Jordan Center, James Devitt, Deputy Director for Media Relations at NYU, Meredith Broussard, Professor at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, and Patrick Egan, from the NYU Department of Politics.

The group traveled to several cities around the U.S. on a program designed to expose them to themes of responsible reporting, freedom in online journalism/social media, internet freedom, and optimizing online journalism/countering misinformation, etc. As part of their U.S. tour, they spent two full days in New York City meeting with policy advisors, NGOs, and academic and industry experts. The participants are all well-known journalists in Russia, and will write about the tour during their visit. The journalists were selected by U.S. embassies and consulates.
